Our History

As a child growing up in the deep south of New Orleans, I was jokingly called “Pink Fluff” by my family, because of my love for all things pink and feminine.  As I grew older, I also learned to appreciate foundations and other accoutrements.  To this day, I feel like no matter what happens; bad day, bad hair, minor or major disappointments, frustrations or downright struggles, I feel better if I make an effort to look better, to prove I am “worthy”. To this end there is nothing like a “pretty thing”. Hope is restored via something pink and frilly.

After college I was hired by a major automotive company and my life as the antithesis to my nature began; not only was I now in “Corporate America”, defined by rules, regulations (some written, others, not) and the whim of my current boss, but I was also in a “Man’s World”; not much pink and frilly amongst the world of automotive dealers.  I began my career working in my hometown of New Orleans, LA.  After a short period of time, I began to learn that if you wanted to move up the “automotive corporate ladder”, you had to literally move, as well.  Eight moves and fourteen years later, having landed in the beautiful automotive metropolis that is Detroit, MI, married, with a 6 year old and another child on the way, I was struggling with the demands of corporate life in a man’s world.  I decided that I needed to make a change, so to thine own nature be true….. and “Pretty Things” began.

There are a few guiding principles important to me and I try to maintain the integrity of these principles throughout Pretty Things.  To be continued…
